CF102

Drug Product
CF102 is an oral small molecule formulated in a capsule. The active ingredient in CF102 is Cl-IB-MECA, a highly specific and selective agonist at the A3 adenosine receptor (A3AR).

Drug Pharmacology
CF102 has potent anti-cancer, particularly against hepatocellular carcinoma, and anti-inflammatory activity demonstrated in pre-clinical animal models of liver inflammation. CF102 also inhibits the replication of Hepatitis C viruses (HCV) .

Mechanism of action
CF102 induces de-regulation of the NF-kB and Wnt signal transduction pathways resulting in apoptosis of HCC cells. The anti-viral effect was found to be mediated via the marked inhibition of NS5A, a nonstructural protein essential for HCV replication that has been implicated in IFN resistance in vivo.

Safety
The safety of CF102 has been demonstrated in preclinical and Phase I clinical studies.

Efficacy
CF102 is currently being tested in Phase I/II studies in patients with HCC and HCV.
