PRODUCTS AND PIPELINE Can-Fite has a number of drugs in various stages of research and development. These include CF101, in Phase IIb studies, CF102 in Phase I studies and CF502, in a pre-clinical development stage. All the company drugs are small molecules that are orally administered. Can-Fite’s lead compound, CF101, is an oral drug that has been successfully used in animal models and human Phase IIa rheumatoid arthritis (RA) trials to test the concept of targeting the Adenosine A3 receptor (A3AR) for the treatment of inflammatory diseases. Phase I studies in healthy volunteers, as well as the Phase IIa clinical studies in rheumatoid arthritis patients have demonstrated this drug to have a favorable safety profile. Phase IIa study data indicates that CF101 has disease modifying anti-inflammatory activity in RA patients failing methotrexate (MTX) therapy. Can-Fite is currently conducting a Phase IIb clinical study to demonstrate definitive efficacy, thereby establishing the basis for a lucrative Phase III development and commercialization partnership. Can-Fite’s second compound, CF102, a similar compound in its biological properties to CF101, is planned for use in liver diseases including hepatocellular carcinoma , Hepatitis C and liver regeneration. CF102 is currently in Phase I clinical study under IND in the US. A further pipeline molecule is CF502, which is a member of a new class of A3AR agonists. It has a very high affinity and selectivity for the A3AR. This compound demonstrated activity in a variety of autoimmune inflammatory animal models, and will be developed as a second generation anti-inflammatory drug. The company has a number of other molecules in research.
